Other possible reasons for such problems occurring:

• When you signed on you acquired a level of security which is insufficient to see the page you requested.

  You may have deliberately set that level low because you didn't think that you would be needing to access that part of the site today. If that is the case then all you need to do is sign on again at a higher level here (Login).

• It may be that you decreased the time-out period for your password when you logged-on because you did so in an insecure area perhaps.

Concerned about security?

In common with other forms of crime - if someone has sufficient intent (and usually motivation even if non-finacial) then they will look for the easiest method at their disposal to achieve their objective.

1. The passwords are displayed as you type because some keyboard settings on the PC you are using MAY not be apparent - CAPS lock for instance or much worse - a different language selected (eg. a German keyboard has a 'y' where the UK keyboard has a 'z', French 'Azerty' keyboards are also common.

   Please choose a time to change your (day to day) password when no-one can overlook your screen or keyboard. If a PC could have a keystroke logger (Trojan/Virus etc.) then don't even use it to login at all, not just for password changes.

2. The default mode of transmission is currently without encryption - this is because any security attack aimed at intercepting passwords would be a long way down the list of methods that a hacker would be using. However, a much more secure option is available by using the secure link towards the top of the page and having used it just once you will then be in a position to use encrypted password submission when all of our other users have all done so and we can then switch the login method without disruption.
